Variety has reported that a representative for Polygram Entertainment has confirmed that the legendary couple’s film is still being worked on at Sony Pictures. The film was first announced in 2021, though with no director or cast attached.

Oscar nominee Lee Hall – who wrote Elton John biopic Rocketman (2019) and Billy Elliott (2000) – was set to draft a script for the project. Sharon, Jack and Aimee Osbourne were attached to produce. Since then, little to no news has been shared in relation to the biopic, and it was seemingly put on ice.

According to the Polygram Entertainment rep, they’re “currently in negotiations with a director, which could be confirmed very soon.” The rep has also seemingly confirmed that Lee Hall is still slated to pen the film’s script.

While the film will include coverage of Ozzy Osbourne’s legendary career both as the frontman of Black Sabbath and as a solo star, it was seemingly focus primarily on his relationship with wife and manager Sharon.

While a cast has yet to be announced for the biopic, Ozzy said in 2022 that he would like to see an “unknown” actor in the role: “I don’t want to have anyone like Johnny Depp act as me. I rather have someone who is relatively unknown.”

The Black Sabbath frontman and heavy metal pioneer passed away last month (July 22) at the age of 76, just weeks after playing the band’s huge farewell show ‘Back To The Beginning’ in their hometown.

It has since been revealed that Ozzy’s death certificate lists the cause of death as a heart attack, while also mentioning that he was suffering from a coronary heart disease and Parkinson’s. It also listed his occupation as “Songwriter, Performer and Rock Legend”.

He was laid to rest in the grounds of his UK mansion during a private ceremony that was attended by Elton John, members of Metallica and more last week. Prior to that, his cortege travelled through Birmingham in a procession attended by thousands of fans, and was attended by his emotional family, including wife Sharon Osbourne, and children Jack, Kelly, and Aimee.
