After announcing that it will touch down in late founder Ozzy Osbourne‘s hometown of Birmingham, U.K. next year, Ozzfest revealed that it will also hit the U.S. for the first time in nearly a decade in 2027.
In an Instagram post on Monday (Sept. 21), the hard rock fest wrote, “Ozzfest will come to the U.K. and U.S. @theozzfest,” with the caption promising, “More Info Coming Soon!!! Where are you hoping Ozzfest 2027 will pop up?” At press time no additional information was available on the cities, dates or lineups for the reboot of the former touring hard rock festival.
Ozzfest announced last month that the event would take place at Villa Park, Birmingham, the 42,000-capacity stadium that hosted Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne’s farewell show Back to the Beginning, which took place in July 2025; the event dates and lineup have not yet been shared for the Villa Park show.
Ozzfest was cooked up by Ozzy’s wife and manager Sharon Osbourne in 1996 after she was unable to book Ozzy on the Lollapalooza festival. Ozzfest then quickly became a popular annual touring festival that brought a day of hard rock to the U.S. and Europe through 2008. Since then, it has taken place sporadically, most recently as a one-day event in 2018 at The Forum in Inglewood, California, with a lineup that featured Rob Zombie, Body Count, Marilyn Manson and others.
Since Ozzy’s passing in 2025 — just weeks after the Back to the Beginning show — Sharon Osbourne has spoken several times about wanting to bring Ozzfest back. Speaking to Billboard earlier this year, Sharon revealed that negotiations with Live Nation were under way with plans to bring Ozzfest back in 2027. “It was something Ozzy was very passionate about: giving young talent a stage in front of a lot of people,” she said. “We really started metal festivals in this country. It was [replicated but] never done with the spirit of what ours was, because ours was a place for new talent. It was like summer camp for kids.”
