Olivia Rodrigo brings out former opener Chappell Roan for ‘Hot to Go!’ in California

Olivia Rodrigo brought out Chappell Roan for a rendition of ‘Hot to Go!’ in California.

Last night (August 20) was the fifth of Rodrigo’s six sold-out shows in Los Angeles, and with the US leg of the ‘Guts’ world tour coming to a close today (August 21), she brought out a “very special surprise guest” to round-off the tour.

Before Roan joined her onstage, the ‘Vampire’ singer told the crowd at the Intuit Dome that her guest was one of the most “inspiring, powerful artists I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting”.

When Roan joined her, the singer said: “We’re going to sing you a song and teach you a dance!” before launching into ‘Hot to Go!’. Watch fan-shot footage below:

Roan had previously opened the San Francisco date of the ‘Sour’ tour, and opened the first 24 ‘Guts’ world tour shows earlier this year before her fame rapidly rose. In February, the NME cover star said she was “very grateful to Olivia”, and said she wasn’t “really sure how it’s gonna feel to do an arena show”.

Now, following the slow-burn success of ‘The Rise And Fall Of A Midwest Princess’, which became Roan’s first UK Number One album almost a year after its release, she’s routinely playing to huge crowds – including one of the most-attended Lollapalooza sets in history.

However, she has been frank about the downsides of her sudden onset fame, and recently criticised some fans’ “weird” and “creepy” behaviour in a series of new TikTok posts.

In two new TikToks, Roan, who has become increasingly agitated on the topic, said: “If you saw a random woman on the street, would you yell at her from the car window? Would you harass her in public? Would you go up to a random lady and say, ‘Can I get a photo with you?’ And she’s like, ‘No, what the fuck?’ And then you get mad at this random lady?”

She continued: “Would you be offended if she says no to your time because she has her own time? Would you stalk her family? Would you follow her around? Would you try to dissect her life and bully her online?

“This is a lady you don’t know. And she doesn’t know you at all. Would you assume that she’s a good person, assume she’s a bad person? Would you assume everything you read about her online is true? I’m a random bitch. You’re a random bitch. Just think about that for a second, okay?”
