Olivia Dean, Brandi Carlile and Sombr announced as ‘SNL’ musical guests

Olivia Dean, Brandi Carlile and Sombr have been announced as the next musical guests for Saturday Night Live.

The 51st season of the NBC comedy show is underway, with Bad Bunny having hosted the opening episode last month alongside musical guest Doja Cat. Amy Poehler and Role Model followed last week, with the latter having been joined by Charli XCX for a performance of ‘Sally, When The Wine Runs Out’.

Tonight (October 18), Sabrina Carpenter is set to fulfil both presenting and musical roles, and in a teaser, she spoofed Sex And The City by channelling Carrie Bradshaw as she sipped a Cosmopolitan and met her ‘Mr. Big’.

On Friday, the show announced the line-ups for the next three episodes. On November 1, Miles Teller will host and Carlile will perform live, and the following week comedian Nikki Glaser will be joined by Sombr. On November 15, Glen Powell will be the host and Dean will be the musical guest.

It will be Whiplash star Teller’s second time hosting, and it will coincide with the release of his film Eternity, a fantasy romcom with Elizabeth Olsen. Carlile has performed on the show multiple times before, including in April this year, where she and Elton John played songs from their album ‘Who Believes In Angels’.

Both Glaser and Sombr will be making their SNL debuts, as will Powell, who will be promoting his new film The Running Man, and Dean.

The latter’s second album ‘The Art Of Loving’ went to Number One on the UK album charts earlier this month and scored a four-star review from NME. “As Dean prepares for her own sold-out arena tours – and with her tracks soaring up the UK charts – this record comes to cement her place. With it, marks the next chapter in Dean’s career, one as a popstar risen,” the review stated.

She will also play a huge UK and European tour in May and June next year, with extra dates having recently been added at London’s O2 Arena due to demand.

New York indie singer-songwriter Sombr released his debut album ‘I Barely Know Her’ in August, also scoring a four-star NME review. “‘I Barely Know Her’ is an album driven by heartache but that hasn’t stopped Sombr from creating a gloriously dynamic record that’s less about misery and more about catharsis”, the review read. “It’s sad boy indie with a smirk.”
