Oasis Announce Reunion Tour Film With ‘Peaky Blinders’ Creator

Oasis have confirmed a new film is being made in conjunction with their upcoming reunion tour. The film is being created and produced by Peaky Blinders scribe Steven Knight and directed by Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace, who were responsible for LCD Soundsystem’s 2012 concert film Shut Up and Play the Hits.

The news comes in spite of Liam Gallagher rejecting rumors of a documentary about the long-awaited Oasis reunion last year. In October, the musician was asked by a fan on X, “How’s the new doco filming going?” “We’re not doing 1,” he replied. “I’m not gonna be in it anyway I’m doing the gigs there’s been enough said about this band it’s time to get Rocking and Rolling not yapping and scrapping.”

The Oasis Live ‘25 film does not currently have a title or a release date, and no specifics have been confirmed about its format or whether it’s even considered a documentary. The film is being produced by Magna Studios and will be distributed by Sony Music Vision. A press release notes, “No further details regarding the content of the film will be released at this moment in time.”

Last year, Deadline reported that Apple TV+, Netflix, and Amazon all hoped to land the Gallagher brothers for a film recounting their reunion and the high-demand tour, which kicks off this summer. Oasis were previously the subject of the 2016’s Oasis: Supersonic, about the band’s career trajectory.

Oasis initially announced their reunion tour in August with a series of U.K. tour dates. They’ve since added a run of North American concerts that will bring them to the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.

Earlier this week, NME leaked the band’s lineup for the tour, leading Gallagher to respond on X, “NME tell me who your source pots are that keep giving you info about Oasis and I’ll give you an exclusive interview about up n coming Oasis tour.” He then claimed the actual lineup is “Tony Mc drums Alan white bass guitar Zak lead guitar Chris Sharrock keys,” although fans were quick to note that all of those musicians have played drums for the band.

Gallagher previously joked that Oasis had tapped cartoon character Peppa Pig on drums and Bert and Ernie on guitar and bass. “Hope that clears everything up can’t wait to see you all who’s says RnR is dead,” he wrote.

Knight is best known as the creator of Peaky Blinders. He has written numerous films and TV shows, including Taboo, Maria, A Thousand Blows, and Eastern Promises, and directed Locke starring Tom Hardy. Southern and Lovelace recently helmed 2022 documentary Meet Me in the Bathroom, about the New York City music scene in the early 2000s.
