Nova Twins announced as ambassadors for Music Minds Matter: “The industry can be all-consuming”

To mark World Mental Health Day, Nova Twins were announced as ambassadors for Music Minds Matter.

London duo Amy Love and Georgia South, who were recently named champions of National Album Day 2025, have thrown their support behind the charity, which offers helplines and support for those in the music industry.

The announcement coincided with World Mental Health Day yesterday (October 10), which seeks to spread awareness and advocate against the social stigma surrounding mental health issues. Nova Twins have explored similar themes in their single ‘Monsters’, from the album ‘Parasites & Butterflies’.

A statement from the charity on Friday said: “To mark World Mental Health Day, we’re delighted to share that critically acclaimed rock duo Nova Twins have been announced as Ambassadors for Music Minds Matter, the charity dedicated to supporting the mental health of everyone working in music.”

It continues: “The announcement comes following research highlighting that one in three rock and alternative musicians report low mental wellbeing, underlining the importance of accessible, industry-wide support.”

The statement concludes: “As new Ambassadors, Nova Twins will work with Music Minds Matter to raise awareness, spotlight support systems, and champion initiatives that help everyone in music to thrive, both on and off stage.”

The act themselves said that while being in a band is “amazing”, it’s not always easy.

“The industry can be all-consuming, and life on the road can take its toll,” they explained. “We want to help create a healthier and more supportive scene, whether that’s for the bands, crew or wider team. By teaming up with Music Minds Matter, we’re hoping to shine a light on support systems that exist and explore new ventures that could be put in place, so that artists and crew can keep thriving, on and off stage.”

Several acts have spoken about the mental strain of the industry, with Victoria Canal recently reflecting on how “unhealthy” the profession can be in the wake of Lola Young’s recent decision to take a break from touring to focus on her wellbeing.

In other news, Nova Twins’ Amy Love urged her followers to “stand against racism and fascism” in the UK amid anti-immigration protests across the country. In a statement titled Love Over Hate, she wrote: “Refugees make up less than one per cent in the UK. They are not the reason you’re struggling to pay your energy bills, feed your children, get an NHS appointment, find stable work, afford tuition fees, buy a home, or keep your business afloat.”
