Three years after Snowfall came to a close, the spinoff debuted on Sept. 8, starring Gail Bean, Isaiah John, Asante Blackk, Peyton Alex Smith and Simmie “Buddy” Sims III. The Hulu and FX show delves into ushering in the rise of a new era of West Coast rap in the ’90s following the crack cocaine epidemic devastating cities like L.A. and marginalized communities throughout the ’80s.

“LA Theme Song” is a one-minute sprint featuring West Coast bounce and finds Nip narrating his come-up with motivational gems and Los Angeles pride, while even giving a peek into his relationship with his mother. “On 60th street we seen hell/ I knew I’m falling right in they plans if we fail/ It’s cus you told me I’m a young Black n—a/ This world don’t love you, that’s just one fact, n—a/ You go to jail, you gon’ come back, n—a,” Nipsey raps.

According to a short documentary behind “LA Theme Song,” Hussle’s verse was originally on Victory Lap‘s “Dedication,” but was removed to add a feature from Kendrick Lamar. The A Snowfall Saga‘s soundtrack is executive produced by 1500 or Nothin’ co-founder Rance Dopson, a frequent collaborator of Hussle’s. Jason Martin (formerly Problem) and Glasses Malone were also involved with the soundtrack.

Hussle (born Ermias Joseph Asghedom) was shot and killed on March 31, 2019, in front of the All Money In rapper’s Marathon Clothing store. Hussle’s murderer, Eric Holder Jr., was sentenced to 60 years to life in prison after being convicted on first-degree murder charges in 2022.

Recorded in 2017, Hussle and Rideaux’s PROLIFIC debuted at No. 21 on the Billboard 200. Hussle’s brother, Blacc Sam, told Billboard that fans can expect new music from the beloved West Coast rapper to accompany Hussle’s forthcoming documentary.
