The New York rapper took to her official Instagram account to share the news of the LP’s arrival which is slated for next month. ‘Pink Friday 2 – The Hiatus’ is set for release on December 13 – roughly a year after the release of the original album.

It follows the previously released versions, 2023’s ‘Pink Friday 2 (Gag City Deluxe)’ and 2024’s ‘Pink Friday 2 (Gag City PLUTO Edition)’.

The announcement of ‘Pink Friday 2 – The Hiatus’ comes after Minaj had shared that her previously announced deluxe edition of ‘Pink Friday 2’ was being scrapped in favour of ‘Pink Friday 3’.

She wrote on social media: “Instead of doing a DELUXE to ‘Pink Friday 2’, I’ve decided to do a brand new album. I’ll still incorporate new songs like #Mamita & [The “anxiety” song] for the remainder of the tour tho…and I’ll announce the new date within the next couple weeks.”

She also confirmed that she’s recorded more songs recently: “The new music is just too good to be thrown away on a deluxe album. Last night, the songs I recorded were just way too iconic. I love you guys so much. You know that. I know you do. I’ll still give you something leading up to the announcement, so no worries.”

“‘PF3’ is about to do PRECISELY wtf BEEN needed to be done. TRUST ME BARBZ. IM SO EXCITED. BLESSED. LOVED (by the Barbz) & fortunately (for the Barbz & me), I’ve learned A LOT since 12/08/23.”

Earlier this summer, the rapper spoke about a new track she “just can’t stay quiet about”. The rapper continued: “Last night, I recorded what will probably be your favourite song on the deluxe.

“It will immediately go into your TOP 5 of the entire PF2 era. OH MY FREAKING GOODNESSWDRFFHJKGV.”

In a follow-up post, she wrote: “I’m listening to that new song. So I’m hype. 😩.”

A previous update saw Minaj express her excitement for a verse she had just got back for the extended edition of ‘Pink Friday 2’. Additionally, she previewed an upcoming song called ‘Anxiety’ from the project on an Instagram Live broadcast.

In a four-star review of ‘Pink Friday 2’, NME wrote: “‘Pink Friday 2’ feels like a consolidation and refinement of everything Minaj can do – including dropping pop culture references that no other artist would think of. Thirteen years after ‘Pink Friday’, Nicki Minaj hasn’t lost her ability to catch us by surprise.”

Last month, the rapper denied any rumours suggesting she will be going on a hiatus soon, saying that she “ain’t going no-mthfkn’-where”.

Following the conclusion of the second US leg of her critically-acclaimed ‘Pink Friday 2’ world tour, which took place in New York’s UBS Arena, a tweet from the popular Nicki Minaj fanpage NM Caviar circulated online, stating that the rapper “announced” she was going on a hiatus. When a fan asked what their source was, the blog alleged that Minaj said so during a Stationhead broadcast.

Minaj replied swiftly in a tweet of her own. She quote-tweeted NM Caviar’s post and frankly stated she “ain’t going no-mthfkn-where. Kiss my ass & HIATUS. 😩🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣LMFAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.”

She further explained in another tweet: “We don’t announce the hiatus, Barbz. Crack is whack. We don’t do that. ‘Dem love chat, dem no run dem block!’ Just relax & [mediating emoji] Let what will be…be *dramatic cinematic music begins*”
