Niall Horan & Thomas Rhett Cover Ella Langley’s ‘Choosin’ Texas’ in Nashville

Ella Langley‘s massive hit “Choosin’ Texas” got some love from Niall Horan and Thomas Rhett in Nashville at one of the pair’s two special co-headlining summer stadium concerts.

Horan and Rhett, both on vocals and guitar, turned “Choosin’ Texas” — Langley’s current single that’s led the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 1 for 12 weeks at this point — into a duet for the Nashville crowd at GEODIS Park on Thursday (July 9). Fans shared the fun, one-off moment in clips on social media after the gig.

The Nashville co-encore also had Horan and Rhett bringing out a One Direction classic, “Steal My Girl” — plus they joined forces on a performance of Horan’s solo release “Heaven” and Rhett’s “Die a Happy Man.”

When put on the spot at the ACM Awards, Rhett told Billboard, without hesitation, that “Steal My Girl” is his favorite One Direction song — even launching into an impromptu sing-along on the red carpet.

At the Nashville gig, Rhett and Horan kept the party going with a performance of “Old Tricks,” which had originally paired Rhett with Blake Shelton but had Horan filling in for Shelton’s part; Rhett and Horan actually recorded their version of the track together for a deluxe edition of About a Woman. Both artists shared a video of Thursday night’s live performance on Instagram.

This was all in addition to full solo sets from the pop-rock and country stars at the one-night concert in Nashville on Thursday. There’s only more chance to catch Horan and Rhett co-headlining: they’re set for a date at Hersheypark Stadium in Hershey, Pa., on July 18.

“Niall and I have been buddies for nearly a decade now, but one thing we’ve not done yet is officially tour together,” Rhett commented when the shows were announced. “There’s nothing I love more than being on the road alongside longtime friends — it’s going to be a blast for us and the fans.”

Horan chimed in, “When TR brought up the idea of doing these, I immediately got so excited just thinking about it. We’ve been friends for ages and it just makes perfect sense.”
