My Bloody Valentine announce support acts for 2025 UK and Ireland tour

My Bloody Valentine have announced the support acts for their upcoming dates in the UK and Ireland.

In March, the band confirmed that they would be playing their first UK headline tour in over 10 years, with huge dates at Dublin’s 3Arena (their first non-festival show in their home country since 1992), Manchester’s Aviva Studios, London’s Wembley Arena and Glasgow’s OVO Hydro in November.

Now, they have revealed that they will be joined by J Mascis for the London and Glasgow shows on November 25 and 27 respectively, while Maria Somerville will open for them in Dublin and Manchester on November 22 and 24.

Tickets have been on sale since the shows were announced in March and you can find any remaining tickets here.

Mascis is the singer and guitarist with Dinosaur Jr. and has been an acquaintance of My Bloody Valentine for a long time. The two bands played together on the 1992 Rollercoaster Tour, an offshoot of the Lollapalooza Festival.

In 2023, MBV’s Kevin Shields joined Dinosaur Jr. on stage in London’s The Garage, playing songs from each other’s back catalogues, as well as The Cure’s ‘Just Like Heaven’.

Somerville, meanwhile, is an Irish shoegaze and folk artist that released her second album ‘Luster’ in April this year via 4AD.

These shows will be My Bloody Valentine’s first live performances in nearly seven years, since they toured North America in 2018. They will also be playing at Primavera Sound in June next year, alongside headliners The Cure, Gorillaz, The xx, Doja Cat and Massive Attack.

Their latest album was the 2013 comeback record ‘mbv’. In the time since, the members revealed in 2021 that they were working on two new albums for Domino, and Shields said that the first would contain “warm and melodic” material while the second would be more experimental.

Outside of the band, Shields has also gone on to share solo material, dropping it in a subtle way by concealing it within his range of custom guitar pedals.
