Tamino has shared an emotion-soaked new track with Mitski called ‘Sanctuary’. Check it out below.
The track comes as the latest single from his forthcoming record ‘Every Dawn’s A Mountain’, which will mark his third studio album.
Following on from previously shared singles ‘Babylon’ and ‘Dissolve’, the latest teaser of the LP marks the only duet on the tracklist, and explores the feeling of hope and heartache.
“I astray from the signs/ They have showed me nothing/ But a faint trace in your eyes,” Tamino sings in the melancholic opening verse, surrounded by swirling instrumentals and a steady acoustic guitar riff.
“Oh the maze of the stars/ They have led me to none/ But the boy with the blue heart/ That believed in someone,” Mitski continues. “I reside in thе ruins/Of the sanctuary/Where a man praisеd a woman/And she loved him holy/It shakes me.”

“I usually write in solitude and only let other people in much later in the process when the songs already have a form,” Tamino said of the duet. “Collaborating with Alessandro [Buccellati, producer] has been a revelation in the sense that for the first time I feel like songwriting as a duo results in songs that I feel are worth releasing.
“On this album, ‘Sanctuary’ is the only track fully birthed from this working dynamic. It’s also the final addition to the record. These things, combined with the fact that the song features a second voice on what is otherwise a very personal record, make the track a bit of an outlier,” he continued.
“Still, it feels like an essential track on this album. I won’t analyze it here, but suffice it to say that I can’t imagine this record without it. Apart from that, it’s also a pinch-me moment every time I hear Mitski’s voice soaring over ‘Sanctuary,’ especially when I think back to my time in Amsterdam where it soared over many days.”
As for the album as a whole, ‘Every Dawn’s A Mountain’ is set for release on March 21. It was produced by Tamino and longtime collaborator PJ Maertens and is set to explore themes of loss, displacement, breaking up and letting go of the past.
It was primarily written in New York City, but recorded in a New Orleans church, Brussels studio, and in various hotel rooms while on tour.

As for Mitski, the singer had a huge 2024 which included a slot at All Points East – which saw a nod to ‘Brat summer’ – and a nomination for the the 2024 AIM Awards alongside Fontaines D.C., Kneecap and Kim Gordon.
