Mitski: The Land will be released in theaters worldwide on Oct. 22
Mitski has all of her bases covered in the official trailer for Mitski: The Land, the official concert film capturing the tour she completed in support of The Land Is Inhospitable and So Are We. The clip opens with the singer-songwriter delivering a haunting performance of “Thursday Girl,” before then bursting into the bright and all-consuming “My Love Mine All Mine.”
Mitski: The Land opens in more than 600 theaters across 30 countries beginning Oct. 22. The film holds the dichotomy shown by those two performances close to its core. The Trafalgar Releasing release was directed by Grant James and mixed by producer Patrick Hyland. It was filmed over three nights at Atlanta’s Fox Theatre in September 2024.
“Mitski uses every inch of the stage to her advantage, weaving in and out of the spotlight and shadows,” a synopsis of the release reads. “Mitski: The Land captures an artist at the height of her musical powers, bringing a cinematic intimacy to the sweeping live experience, showcasing music from ‘The Land Is…’ alongside reworkings and reimaginations of songs that color her expansive career.”
“The real struggle for me in getting bigger is, how do I maintain integrity in the performance? How do I make sure the audience experience is still intimate and emotional in this 8,000-cap room? How do I not resort to flashy pyrotechnics onstage?” Mitski told Rolling Stone in 2021. “Because I don’t want my show to be about that — I want people to enter into a place with me and have an experience, and then leave having experienced something important.”

With the shows hosted in support of The Land Is Inhospitable and So Are We, Mitski found her answers in the inclusion of a seven-piece band, with choreography by Monica Mirabile and stage design by Andi Watson. Mitski performed 80 shows on the tour, which started off small and was extended over time to accommodate additional locations. She was joined by Tamino, Sunny War, Laufey, Sarah Kinsley, Ethel Cain, Arlo Parks, and Wyatt Flowers on select dates.
