The former Rascals frontman is set to release his new album ‘Sunlight In The Shadows‘, produced by The Black Keys‘ Dan Auerbach, on October 17 via Auerbach’s own label, Easy Eye Sound. You can pre-order it here.

So far, Kane has released the single ‘Love Is Cruel’, and now followed up with ‘Electric Flower’, which he pegs as “a proper glam rock Saturday night feeling tune”.

“It’s one of those you stick on to get your strut on and feel good,” Kane said of the track. “This one came midway through the creation of the album. The sun was beaming in Nashville, riffs were falling from our heads onto the frets and the energy between Dan, me, and the band in the studio was ELECTRIC.”

It echoes comments he made to NME last month, when he spoke about the album and his creative chemistry with Auerbach.

“For once in my life, it all fell into place,” he said. “I was still touring that last album until December, then in January I went over to record with Dan and this incredible band that we put together. We recorded the album in five days, we did it all live, and I just felt so comfortable and respected. The result is so good that I’m still pinching myself about it all.”

Summing up the essence of the upcoming album, Kane said not only was he “absolutely obsessed with it”, but that it has something for everyone.

“You’ve got your T-Rex glam rock-y ones that are like, ‘Wow!’, then there are slower moments,” he said. £There are two songs called ‘Always In Over My Head’ and ‘Walk On The Ocean’ which have almost a bit of a crooner-y Burt Bacharach vibe – they’re a bit [Last Shadow] Puppets-y as well. It’s got all the elements that I’ve shown over 20 years of making music and stuff. I feel it’s all combined into one.”

Arctic Monkeys frontman and Sheffield native Turner has played alongside Kane in the supergroup since its inception in 2007. They last released their album ‘Everything You’ve Come To Expect‘ in 2016, and performed their last show at Rock en Seine that same year.
