Mick Jagger Reveals Which Zara Larsson Song Got Him Hooked on Her Music

The Rolling Stones frontman said he’s been a fan of the pop star since 2018

stopped by the Today show on Friday to kick off its Summer Concert Series and discuss her new remix album, Midnight Sun (Girls Trip). When taking the stage in front of the massive crowd of fans, the hosts surprised her with a clip of none other than Mick Jagger, who had appeared on the show a few days prior for a separate interview.

In the video, Jagger was asked which contemporary artist he’s been listening to these days, to which the rocker replied, “My son said to me, ‘Oh, Zara Larsson is having a big comeback.’ I said, ‘But she never went away for me.’” Jagger added that he’s been a fan of the singer since her 2018 hit track, “Ruin My Life,” and said, “When I’m in that mood, that’s what I like.”

“I can’t believe it,” Larsson said after the clip rolled. “It’s so beautiful to just see how everyone’s coming on this journey.”

Elsewhere on the Today show, the 28-year-old Swedish pop star reflected on her journey and career. “Now, as I’m older I really practice to be present and to be in the moment,” Larsson said. “I really do feel like I really take it all in and I feel really grateful and happy for everything that’s happening.” The singer also performed several of her songs for fans including “Midnight Sun,” “Pretty Ugly” and “Stateside” — at one point, she invited co-host Sheinelle Jones onstage to join in the “Lush Life” dance for a memorable moment.

In February, Larsson scored her first Grammy nod in the Best Dance Pop Recording category for Midnight Sun. The singer is also set to launch a run of summer festival shows including BBC’s Radio 1 Big Weekend and Lollapalooza in Chicago.
