The track was recorded in Tyneside in Fender’s hometown, and features the choir from the John Spence Community High School in North Shields, where Sam was a former pupil, and brass from the Easington Colliery Band.

“It was a privilege to rework such an iconic song by such a legendary band,” Fender said in a statement. “In the spirit of Christmas, we re-recorded the children’s choir with the kids from my old school, John Spence Community High School, and we arranged a brass section with the Easington Colliery Band.”

Rolling Stones frontman Jagger approved of the cover. “I’m a fan of Sam’s work, so I was pleased to hear he was covering one of my songs. I think he’s done a great job with it,” he said in a press release.

Released via Polydor Records, a 7” single and CD is now available via Fender’s official store, with 100% of net proceeds being donated to the Teenage Cancer Trust. “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” first appeared on the Stones’ 1969 album Let It Bleed, and was co-written by Jagger and guitarist Keith Richards.

Fender is set to tour the U.K. and Ireland with his Proper Massive stadium tour, which includes three dates at London’s Wembley Stadium.
