On Monday (April 7), the metal band took to social media to announce the A Sea of Hearts Beat As One Unified initiative with their charity organisation All Within My Hands Foundation and the American Red Cross.

Through the Sea of Hearts… initiative, Metallica will be organising blood donation drives at select upcoming concerts across the US. Sign-ups are required as the drives are appointment-based – register and find out more here.

Registering for the blood drives will entitle sign-ups to a limited-edition T-shirt.

The American Red Cross wrote on social media about the collaboration: “We’re honored to partner with Metallica and the All Within My Hands Foundation on this powerful initiative.❤️ Thank you for helping bring more awareness to the need for blood and for encouraging fans to take action. See you all there!”

The current schedule for Metallica’s blood drive is:

APRIL
14-18 – Liverpool, New York
29 – Nashville, Tennessee

MAY
01, 02, 06 – Columbus, Ohio
06 – Blacksburg, Virginia
20 – Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
27 – Arlington, Virginia
30 – Charlotte, North Carolina
30 – Atlanta, Georgia

JUNE
10, 13 – Houston, Texas
18 – Santa Clara, California
23, 24 – Denver, Colorado

Recently, guitarist Kirk Hammett shared he has already written 767 new riffs for the next Metallica album, although he added that he does not foresee the band working on it “for at least another year”.

Hammett also discussed the potential sound of the new record: “Who knows? We might just say, ‘Okay, let’s go back to the Nineties again’. It’s not a bad idea! We haven’t said that to each other yet. And it’s interesting because when ‘Load and ‘Reload came out, there was a lot of backlash. But nowadays I run into fans and they love that era.”

The band’s ‘M72 World Tour’ kicked off in April 2023 and is set to recommence this month in Syracuse, New York. The final scheduled date is in Auckland, New Zealand on November 19.

In other news, Metallica are also on the stacked line-up for the final ever Black Sabbath show in Villa Park in Birmingham in July.
