Megan Thee Stallion on Nicki Minaj feud: “I still to this day don’t know what the problem is”

Megan Thee Stallion has opened up on her feud with Nicki Minaj.

In a new interview with Billboard, the rapper spoke about her beef with Minaj, which kicked off when Megan dropped the song ‘Hiss‘ earlier this year including the line: “These hoes don’t be mad at Megan, these hoes mad at Megan’s Law.” Megan’s Law requires information about registered sex offenders to be available to the public.

Minaj – whose husband Kenneth Petty is a registered sex offender after pleading guilty to attempted rape at age 16 – responded by dropping the diss track ‘Big Foot‘. The title alludes to an incident with Tory Lanez, who was found guilty of shooting Megan in her feet last year in August.

Speaking to Billboard, Megan said: “I still to this day don’t know what the problem is. I don’t even know what could be reconciled because I, to this day, don’t know what the problem is.”

“I’m going to keep doing what I’m doing,” she noted elsewhere in the conversation. “If people feel like I’m somebody to aim at, then I must be pretty high up if you’re reaching up at me. I must be some kind of competition. That makes me feel good. That makes me feel like I could rap because if I wasn’t the shit, y’all wouldn’t be worried about me.”

Megan Thee Stallion is set to host the MTV VMAs for the first time this year, which will take place on September 11 at 8pm ET at the UBS Arena in New York.

The rapper is also nominated for five awards this year, including Best Collaboration alongside GloRilla with ‘Wanna Be’ and Best Hip Hop for ‘Boa’, as well as three technical awards: Best Direction, Best Art Direction and Best Visual Effects – also for ‘Boa’.

She dropped her latest album ‘Megan’ in June; in a four-star review, NME hailed the record as a “confident, cohesive third album that colourfully showcases all aspects of the rapper’s identity and personality,” adding: “All of these facets of Megan Thee Stallion have been on display throughout her career, from freestyles to mixtapes to studio albums.

“But they’ve not sounded this cohesive together till now (yes, even ‘Worthy’, with its self-empowerment mantra of a chorus and peppy pop-guitar beat). When the sizzling guitar solo rings out on ‘Cobra’, it escorts us out of the album – and heralds a fearless new era for Megan Thee Stallion.”

In other news, a fan has sued Nicki Minaj for $5million (£3.8m) for financial and emotional damage.
