Megan Moroney Brings a Dose of ‘Medicine’ to ‘Fallon’

The country star brought a pharmacy decked out in pink to the late-night stage and performed her Cloud 9 track

Megan Moroney gave past beaus a taste of their own “Medicine” during Wednesday night’s musical performance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

The country singer-songwriter appeared in a blush gingham dress with a matching glittered-out guitar alongside her band and transformed the stage into a pink pharmacy lined with glowing pill bottles. After singing the track’s cheeky chorus (“Is it bitter going down, down, down? You don’t like it too much, do you?”), Moroney called out the late-night host: “Tell me how you like it, Jimmy!”

At the end of the performance, Fallon declared his approval and yelled, “I like it a lot!” while holding up the vinyl for her Cloud 9 album, which released back in February. The 15-track LP includes a pair of collaborations with Kacey Musgraves and Ed Sheeran, and features songs titled “Liar & Tigers & Bears,” “Wedding Dress,” “Wish I Didn’t,” and “Waiting on the Rain.” It also includes singles “6 Months Later” and “Beautiful Things.”

“Similar to the first two albums, it’s all written about honest, personal experiences, but these songs were written by the strongest, most confident version of myself I’ve ever been,” Moroney previously said in a statement about her third album. “My feet feel firmly planted in my artistry, and it was fun to play around sonically, while still sticking to my roots of what my fans and I love.”

Last month, the hitmaker was also honored at the second annual Sharing the Spotlight awards hosted by She Is The Music, the nonprofit advocacy group for women in the music industry co-founded by Alicia Keys.  “I think sometimes we’re taught, subtly or not, that there’s only room for a few women at the top,” said Moroney at the West Hollywood event. “But music and creating art isn’t a competition for oxygen. I’m positive that when one of us wins, it stretches the ceiling higher for the next girl watching.”
