Blige opened the run at the 5,200-seat Dolby Live over the weekend, with guest appearances from 50 Cent, Jadakiss, The LOX and Method Man.

The singer sat down with Good Morning America‘s Robin Roberts this week to talk about the residency and why this is the perfect moment to set up shop in Sin City. “It’s just time, you know? I’m where I’m supposed to be. I’m doing what I’m supposed to do. And I didn’t give up,” Blige said, revealing that her favorite song to perform live is “My Life,” the title track to her 1994 sophomore album, as well as 1996’s Waiting to Exhale soundtrack song “Not Gon’ Cry,” both of which have a deep resonance for her.

“’Not Gon’ Cry’ is always heavy. Even ‘My Life’ is heavy,” she told Roberts. “When I perform any song from the My Life album, it’s heavy. Really dark times.”
