Maren Morris Debuts Uplifting New Single ‘Parachute’

The song was written for CBS series Sheriff Country, in which the singer is set to guest star

Maren Morris shared a new song, “Parachute,” written and recorded for CBS drama series Sheriff Country. The track will appear in tonight’s episode of the show, which also features Morris’ acting debut.

“Parachute” was produced by Morris’ longtime collaborator Jimmy Robbins, and centers on themes of themes of renewal, self-forgiveness, and emotional rebirth.

“Writing ‘Parachute’ was a really cathartic experience for me,” Morris said in a statement. “Tapping into the forgiveness of oneself is such an underrated emotion written about. The fact that it will soundtrack the episode I’m acting in is even more emotional. I had the best day on set and can’t wait to see this titular episode of a stellar first season of Sheriff Country.”

In the episode, Morris plays Hazel, a sponsor to one of the pivotal characters. It airs on CBS today, May 15, at 8 p.m. The series was created by Max Thieriot, who also co-created Fire Country, which notably enlisted Kane Brown and Jelly Roll as guest stars.

Morris’ last album, Dreamsicle, arrived last year. The LP marked her fourth full-length album and her first since 2022’s Humble Quest. It featured all five songs from her 2024 EP Intermission. The singer is set to head out on the road in support of the LP next month. The tour kicks off in Calgary, Alberta, on June 13 and continues down the west coast with stops in Las Vegas, Denver, Salt Lake City, Seattle, and more. Scout Willis is supporting on all 12 dates.
