Maná Donating to L.A. Wildfire Relief: ‘Los Angeles Has Always Been Our Second Home’

Maná has spoken out about the devastating ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles, asking their fans and colleagues to make donations.

“Los Angeles is like hell. There are devastating fires that are affecting the houses…it’s tremendous how the fire is raging,” frontman Fher Olvera said in a video message posted on Thursday (Jan. 9).

He continued: “First, we urge the Latin artistic community to donate. Los Angeles has always treated all of us artists, and well for Maná, Los Angeles has been family to us. Let’s donate and also calling the entire Mexican and Latin American community in the United States. We have to give today, whatever we can. We have to find a place, a foundation, an institution that can channel the resources that we send. We, Maná, wish that this passes as soon as possible and that it affects you as little as possible. That’s nature, we love you very much from Mexico.”

In the caption on the post — where they also expressed that L.A. “has always been our second home” — the Mexican rock band shared a list of organizations that they will be donating to and supporting: Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation, World Central Kitchen, and the Pasadena Community Job Center.

The west-side Palisades Fire has become the most destructive in L.A. history, according to the Associated Press. Fanned by strong, gusting winds, the fire has led to the evacuation of more than 30,000 residents, per CBS News. On the east-side, Eaton Fire has currently burned 10,600 acres near Pasadena, and over 50,000 residents have evacuated their homes.
