Mac DeMarco Goes ‘Home’ to His ‘Guitar’ on New Album

The indie singer-songwriter’s seventh album, Guitar, arrives Aug. 22

Mac DeMarco is heading home again as he announces his new album Guitar. It’s unclear whether the singer-songwriter aims to return to his native Canada or honor his current home of Los Angeles, where DeMarco recorded the entirety of the album. Guitar marks DeMarco’s seventh LP and is out Aug. 22, via his own label Mac’s Record Label. Along with the news, the singer-songwriter shared lead single “Home.”

“These days, I’d much rather be on my own/No more walking those streets, that I once called my home,” DeMarco sings on the mellow track. In the accompanying music video for the song, DeMarco canoes near his mother’s home in Canada and splices in shots of geese. “Home” is “a song I wrote at my home in Los Angeles about what home means to me,” the singer-songwriter said in a statement.

DeMarco’s previous full-length release was 2023’s instrumental album, Five Easy Hot Dogs. Now, the singer-songwriter is back in action on all fronts. In April, DeMarco announced a 2025 tour across the U.S., U.K., and Canada. He’s adding to that trek with newly announced shows for 2026 in Asia and additional U.S. stops., which include multiple nights at New York’s esteemed Radio City Music Hall and the Greek Theatre in Berkeley, California.
