Los Angeles Wildfires: All the Benefit Concerts Raising Funds for Disaster Victims

In the wake of the devastating Los Angeles wildfires, the music community has stepped up with financial aid from MusiCares and other forms of monetary and emotional support. There is also a growing list of benefit concerts, both in California and around the U.S., with proceeds going toward those impacted by the catastrophe. Here’s a running list.

Tunes for Tomorrow: A Musical Fundraiser
When & Where: Jan. 14 — Los Angeles @ The Hotel Café
Lineup: Zen Thomas, Sacha Carlson, Stela Cole, Return to Dust, Gonzalo Martin, Kate Grahn, Tin Angel, and Haleigh Bowers
Lucas Flood transforms his usual Not Another Showcase into a musical event aimed to raise money for the victims of the Los Angeles fires. Flood said that the event will use the money raised to give to “a family that lost everything and is under their fundraising goal.”

Fire Aid Picolandia
When & Where: Jan. 18 — Pico Rivera, CA @ Pico Rivera Sports Arena
Lineup: To be announced
The Pico Rivera Sports Arena in Pico Rivera, California, has become a makeshift shelter for displaced horses and large livestock in the wake of the fires. On Jan. 18, a Saturday, the venue, a headquarters for Hispanic music fans in the area, will play host to 15 Latin artists in the banda, norteño, and tambarazo genres.

9th Annual Metal Hall of Fame Gala
When & Where: Jan. 22 — Anaheim, CA @ Grand Theater
Lineup: Poison drummer Rikki Rockett, Kill Devil Hill, Chris Poland and Jeff Young (formerly of Megadeth), Alibis, Wicked
The headbanging Metal Hall of Fame Gala pivots to a fundraising telethon to help raise money for those affected by the L.A. wildfires. Eddie Trunk and Cathy Rankin host the event, which wil features an all-star jam and surprise guests.

L.A. Fires Benefit Show
When & Where: Jan. 26 — Brooklyn, New York @ Cassette
Lineup: Palehound, Beck Zegans of Goo, Marem Ladson
The Brooklyn club Cassette will welcome an indie-heavy lineup of Palehound, Beck Zegans of Goo, and Marem Ladson to raise funds for victims of the L.A. fires on Sunday, Jan. 26.

I Love L.A.: New York City Bands for L.A. Fire Relief
When & Where: Jan. 27 – 29 — New York @ Bowery Electric, Heaven Can Wait, Berlin
Lineup: Gift, Ginger Winn, Patton Magee from the Nude Party, Laura Jean Anderson, Austin Royale, Discovery Zone, 95 Bulls
On the other side of the country, in Manhattan, a trio of New York clubs will partake in three days of benefit concerts, running Monday, Jan. 27, through Wednesday, the 29th. Participating artists include Gift, Ginger Winn, Patton Magee from garage rockers the Nude Party, and more.

FireAid
When & Where: Jan. 30 — Inglewood, California @ Intuit Dome
Lineup: To be announced
Set for Thursday, Jan. 30, at the 18,000-seat Intuit Dome in L.A.’s Inglewood neighborhood, “FireAid” is being organized by AEG, the Irving Azoff family, and Live Nation. The lineup has yet to be announced but is surely to include many of pop’s most high-wattage acts.

Dilla Day L.A.
When & Where: Feb. 8 — Los Angeles @ Beehive
Lineup: Slum Village, Frank-N-Dank, Guilty Simpson, Phat Kat, Wild Child of Lootpack, Shortkut, Daru Jones, J. Rocc of the Beat Junkies
The annual show in honor of J. Dilla, hosted by his mother Ma Dukes, is now a benefit for the victims of the Eaton fire. The lineup for the Saturday, Feb. 8, show, at Beehive (961 E. 61st St.) is set to include names like Slum Village and Frank-N-Dank.
