Lorde has shared a new update with fans, teasing new music and saying that “everything is about to change”.
It comes after the singer began hinting at new material at the end of last year, wiping her social media accounts, leading to fans that a new chapter was on the way. She also shared exactly one second of new music, alongside several pictures of herself inside the studio, writing: “will be back in touch”.
The hints continued into 2025 too, with the singer wiping her website and sharing a brief clip on TikTok earlier this month, which saw her walking through New York City’s Washington Square Park, listening to a new track that includes the lines: “Since I was 17, I gave you everything/ Now we wake from a dream, well baby, what was that?/ What was that?”
Now, the ‘Royals’ singer has shared a new voice note with fans, confirming that “everything is about to change” very soon.
Beginning, Lorde told fans what it was like to be at Coachella 2025 this past weekend – where she surprised fans by joining Charli XCX on stage for a ‘Girl, so confusing’ remix – saying that it made her feel “so real and so solid”.
“I can feel all that I have shed to be able to be in this the way I am right now,” she added, before explaining why she wanted to speak to share the update with fans.

“I just wanted to say hi because everything is about to change. These are really the last moments where it’s just us, which is crazy,” she added. “It’s so right. I’m so ready. I didn’t know if I’d ever be able to say that, but I am. I’m so thankful for your patience. I’ve felt your love, I’ve felt you right there. This is going to be crazy, you have no idea.”
As well as dropping the voice note with fans, which you can check out in the post above, Lorde has also made a change to her bio on Spotify, insinuating that new music will be arriving later this month.
After stripping back all the information from her website, social media platforms and more, the bio on her Spotify page now reads: “04.25” – suggesting that new music will be arriving on April 25.

As previously mentioned, the new updates come from speculation that has been ongoing since 2023. As well as sharing one second of new music, Lorde has hinted on a now-deleted Instagram post that she was working on new music. She then promised fans she would show them something in 2023, writing: “No this is not the start of anything out there, just want u to know there’s a light on inside me .. show it to you soon.”
The ‘Ribs’ artist has released a new album every four years, beginning with 2013’s ‘Pure Heroine’, 2017’s ‘Melodrama’, and most recently, 2021’s ‘Solar Power’.
She has dropped new music as part of a collaboration in 2025. Earlier this year, she and Marlon Williams joined forces on ‘Kāhore He Manu E’ – with the pop singer saying the collaboration was “one of my favourite things to do on earth”.
