Lola Young Sets Release Date for New Album ‘I’m Only F-cking Myself’

The British pop artist will share the follow-up to her 2024 record This Wasn’t Meant for You Anyway on Sept. 19

Last year, Lola Young released her second studio album, This Wasn’t Meant for You Anyway, which housed her breakthrough single “Messy.” Now, the British pop artist is gearing up to return with another full-length LP with another pointed title. I’m Only Fucking Myself will arrive via Island Records on Sept. 19.

I’m Only Fucking Myself kicked off with the release of “One Thing” last month. “I wanted to make a song and music video that is thought-provoking and highlights sex being both a fun and light thing, not always meaningful, as well as showing how gender roles can be reversed,” Young said at the time. In a separate Instagram post, she assured fans that “the album that is coming soon has some deeeeeep ones tho don’t you worry.”

Earlier this year, Young told Rolling Stone that I’m Only Fucking Myself will have something for everyone. “The new album is going to be a lot more about my personal struggle and less so about love,” she said. “There’s some real bangers on there. I can’t say too much, but I can say that this feels like a step up.”

In November, Young will take the album on the road with a run of shows across North America. “Can’t wait to be back in the room with you all,” she wrote on Instagram. Her audience has expanded significantly since This Wasn’t Meant for You Anyway, but she’s hopeful that she can still connect to everyone in person and in the music. “I think that’s the whole purpose of why I make music, is to make people feel like they belong somewhere,” Young told Rolling Stone. “That’s what I want people to feel. I understand them, and millions of other people do, too.”
