Thom Yorke has shared a brooding new track for the upcoming Apple+ show Smoke. Check it out below.
The singer and multi-instrumentalist, who is best recognised as the frontman of Radiohead and The Smile, has dropped the new track as the enchanting opening theme for the series.
Titled ‘Dialing In’, it captures the same signature charm that is prevalent in The Smile. It sees his hypnotising vocals placed alongside glass-like bells, while brooding instrumentals build an unsettling atmosphere beneath.
For some fans, the track may be one they have already heard before. This is because, although the song was never officially released up until now, Yorke has previously played it live as part of his live shows.
Previously, it was performed under the title ‘Gawpers’, and has now been tweaked and reimagined to coincide with the series’ themes even more.
Speaking about working with Yorke for the theme, Smoke creator and executive producer Dennis Lehane shared: “Working with Thom Yorke was as much an honour for me as working with Clint Eastwood, Martin Scorsese or Richard Price.
“I’ve somehow been blessed with collaborating with living legends who were also formative influences on my own creative life. Thom is definitely that. In addition, he took a basic concept I gave him and delivered a song that perfectly embodies the show and absolutely crushes.”
‘Dialing In’ is out now for the first time and available in both standard and Atmos formats. The series is set to launch globally on Apple TV+ on June 27. Check out the theme above, and the new trailer starring Taron Egerton below.
The track isn’t the only new release from Thom Yorke in 2025. Last month, he and Mark Pritchard released a new song titled ‘Gangsters’, and that then featured in their collaborative album ‘Tall Tales’, which arrived on May 9.
In other Yorke news, rumours have been circulating this year that Radiohead are gearing up to hit the road again and supposedly “placed holds in select European cities for a run of residency gigs this autumn”. At time of writing, this has not been confirmed officially by the band.
