Listen to Snoop Dogg and Sting sample The Police on new song ‘Another Part of Me’

Snoop Dogg has released ‘Another Part of Me’, a song that features guest vocals by Sting and also samples a classic song by The Police. Listen to it below.

The rap veteran is set to release ‘Missionary’ next month (December 13), and it marks his first album fully produced by longtime affiliate Dr. Dre since 1993’s ‘Doggystyle’.

In ‘Another Part of Me’ – which follows the recent release of ‘Outta Da Blue’ – Dre samples the iconic guitar lick from The Police’s 1979 hit single ‘Message In A Bottle’, with Snoop Dogg alternating between his classic rap flow and an Auto-Tune croon modelled after the reggae-rock song.

Sting also flips expectations with his appearance, taking on a rap cadence with his verse: “Mmm, gotta get up out of my way / Yeah, there’s no better time than today“.

“Me and Snoop made a recording of ‘Message In A Bottle’, which he’s called something else,” Sting told BBC Radio 2, per Rolling Stone.

“I played the guitar and I sang on it, but Snoop also sings on this, which is quite a revelation to me.” Listen to the track below.

The release date of ‘Missionary’ will also mark the 30th anniversary of ‘Doggystyle’. The new album will also feature guest appearances by Eminem, 50 Cent, Method Man, Jelly Roll, the late Tom Petty, and more.

Dre had previously said he hoped for a November release date, and explained that ‘Missionary’ differs from ‘Doggystyle’ because: “This one’s gonna show a different level of maturity with his lyrics and with my music. I feel like this is some of the best music I’ve done in my career.”

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight earlier this year, Dr. Dre revealed that his bond with Snoop goes much further than just recording music in the studio.

He revealed: “I don’t even feel comfortable performing without Snoop. Something about the synergy that me and Snoop have is really interesting.” He went on to add, “Really, Snoop, he’s the superstar. I’m the co-star when we get on stage. It’s different when we’re in the studio, you know? I’m the captain when we’re in the studio, but when we go outside, Snoop is the guy.”

Recently, Snoop responded to a new Kendrick Lamar lyric on the song ‘wacced out murals’ about his support of Drake during the two rappers’ public feud this summer.
