Phoebe Bridgers hid a collaboration with former Black Country, New Road singer Isaac Wood on her new album – listen to it below.
Bridgers’ third solo album was released yesterday (August 14), with 16 tracks included on its streaming version. However, since its release, fans have now discovered a hidden track titled ‘Best Dressed’ concealed in the CD pre-gap before opener ‘The Outside’.
Listeners can access the track by selecting the first song on the CD version and rewinding for approximately four minutes, while it also has been included as the 17th and final track on the vinyl edition of the album.
Bright Eyes‘ Conor Oberst, who appears elsewhere on the album and performed in Better Oblivion Community Center with Bridgers, is also credited as playing on the track, as are Jack Antonoff and Jon Brion.
The song sees Bridgers sing two breathy verses, while Wood takes a verse of his own, with lines including: “You saved me from dancing with Mr. Polanski, bidding farewell to my family with a smile / Then you took my pulse to the Oregon coast, where we went swimming with our clothes in a pile“.

Wood left Black Country, New Road in January 2022, just days before the release of their second album ‘Ants From Up Here’, citing struggles with his mental health.
This collaboration comes ahead of Wood supporting Bridgers on the UK and European leg of her ‘The Lost Tour’ later this year. ‘Lost Weekend’ is Bridgers’ first album since ‘Punisher’ in 2020, and it boasts an impressive list of collaborators, including her partner Bo Burnham, her Boygenius bandmates Lucy Dacus and Julien Baker, Alex G and many others.
The credits also list the mysterious figure of Son-John Johnson as a vocalist on ‘Kill Me’ and ‘I Can’t Wait’, and fans think it is a pseudonym for Geese’s Cameron Winter, whose distinctive voice seems to appear on those tracks. Check out the full list of credits on ‘Lost Weekend’ here.
In a five-star rave review of ‘Lost Weekend’, NME wrote: “Bridgers’ ‘Lost Weekend’ is the opposite of emotional evasion: more a reckoning with herself and the romantic and familial love and loss that have shaped her story and storytelling. It’s a feat that could only be achieved by a songwriter and musician self-assured in their penmanship and musicality, someone who may have started the journey of writing her third album feeling lost, but by the end wasn’t unmoored at all.”
