Listen to Mary In The Junkyard’s nostalgic new single ‘This Is My California’

Mary In the Junkyard have shared their nostalgic new single ‘This Is My California’ – check it out below.

Produced by Craig Silvey (Sam Fender, Wunderhorse), the song sees the band – comprised of Clari Freeman-Taylor, Saya Barbaglia and David Addsion – paint a soothing picture of their own paradise with Freeman-Taylor’s soft vocals and Barbaglia deep bass lines.

Speaking about the track in a press release, the band shared: “‘This Is My California’ is a nostalgic song about finding my own dreams. Seeing ‘California’ through films and tv always felt like a paradise or idea of success that didn’t really resonate with me.

“Also in the song there’s a lot of lyrics about “Something lifting you out” – growing up me and my friends would climb everything, roofs and trees, maybe to feel like we were escaping the place we were in or feel a kind of wonder of how small it was from high up.”

The new song follows their debut EP ‘This Old House‘ which was released earlier this year. In a four-star review of the EP, NME shared: “They may not be afraid to rummage through the weeds, but the dreamy ambition of Mary In The Junkyard is simply too great for just a viral moment – let their music pour out of your speakers and into your life. Get out and experience the flesh, blood, guts and grit of this band in all of their glory and promise.”

Mary In The Junkyard are also set to hit the road alongside Sports Team on a UK tour and will make their way over to NYC for two gigs in the big city, one night supporting Model/Actriz and their first headlining show at Baby’s All Right. They are also slated to play at London’s Fabric early next year marking their biggest live show to date. Check out a full list of tour dates below and visit here to purchase tickets.
