Little Simz has released a surprise new single to close out 2024, in the form of ‘Hello, Hi’ – check out the track below.
The English-Nigerian rapper has not released a studio album since ‘NO THANK YOU’ in December 2022, but in announcing this latest single, she appears to be hinting that there will be more to come in 2025.
Posting on X on Monday (December 30), Simz shared a link to the song, and added: “See you in 25’”.

The two-minute song is produced by SHYY and Rigas and is based around an acoustic guitar loop and a gentle processed vocal sample. Simz reflects on her life and career to date, rapping, “Neighbours can’t believe how a Black woman got this far / But they rate it still, I was chasing dangerous thrills”.

NME rated ‘NO THANK YOU’ four stars in 2022, writing: “‘NO THANK YOU’s quiet, understated release provides parallels to Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Untitled Unmastered’ release from 2016, a series of leftovers from his ‘To Pimp A Butterfly’ sessions. That too had a certain looseness and freedom to the tracks, and, much like Lamar, a clear-headed Simz has something to say urgently. The case for Simz to be recognised as a true modern great has only been strengthened with this release.”
Simz has not released a whole project in 2024, but she has still been active, appearing on the Coldplay single ‘We Pray’, Sampha’s ‘Satellite Business 2.0’ and on Wretch 32’s comeback track ‘Black And British’.
She also joined forces with the Tate Modern earlier this year to curate an evening of late-night sessions of music, workshops and conversations.
In November, she was also on hand to present Busta Rhymes with the Global Icon Award at the MTV Europe Music Awards in Manchester.
