Listen to CHALK’s boisterous new single ‘Afraid’

CHALK have shared a boisterous new single ‘Afraid’ from their forthcoming EP ‘Conditions III’. Check it out below.

Opening with an electronic beat and flowing into loud, pounding drums and a fuzzy guitar riff, ‘Afraid’ sees the Belfast post-punk rockers create a brooding yet electrifying track.

Speaking about the track in a press release, CHALK shared: “‘Afraid’ captures the raw fear and exhilaration of stepping into the unknown, a reminder that growth only happens when you leave your comfort zone. It’s a reflection on the strength it takes to move forward.”

Directed by Benedict Goddard and Colin Peppard, the song’s accompanying music video sees what appears to be an inmate choking on an olive while two guards attempt to save him. A pastor then shows up to the room and accidentally starts choking on the olive after it gets flung into his mouth. The inmate and two prison guards then attempt to save the choking pastor.

‘Afraid’ marks the second single to be released from CHALK’s upcoming EP ‘Conditions III’ which is set for release on February 21 via Nice Swan Records. It follows the previously released lead single ‘Tell Me’.

Elsewhere, CHALK are set to embark on a 2025 UK and Europe tour next month.

The tour will kick off with a show at King Tut’s in Glasgow on February 27 followed by stops in cities such as Manchester, Leeds, London, Bristol, Amsterdam, Antwerp, Paris, Berlin, Hamburg and more and will wrap up on April 12 at Whelan’s in Dublin. Check out a full list of dates below and visit here to purchase tickets.
