Linda Perry to Receive Ivor Novello Awards’ Prestigious Songwriting Prize

Linda Perry will collect a prestigious songwriting prize at the upcoming Ivor Novello awards in London.

The 4 Non Blondes leader will be recognized with the special international songwriter prize in recognition of her work with the band and as a songwriter for several major artists.

Perry’s career includes songwriting credits on 4 Non Blondes’ “What’s Going On?,” which peaked at No. 14 on the Billboard Hot 100, as well as “Beautiful” by Christina Aguilera; “What You Waiting For?” by Gwen Stefani; and “Get the Party Started” by P!nk. She has also collaborated with Adele, Ariana Grande, Celine Dion and more.

Perry will collect the trophy at the ceremony held at London’s Grosvenor Hotel on May 21. The Killers’ frontman, Brandon Flowers, was the most recent artist to be awarded the prize, with Bruce Springsteen being on hand to present the statue.

Speaking on the prize, Perry said in a statement, “It’s an honor to be recognized for my songwriting contributions at the 71st Ivor Novello Awards. So many incredible artists have been celebrated, and I am humbled to be standing alongside them.”

“Linda Perry’s songwriting continues to have a profound impact on global popular culture,” Roberto Neri, CEO of the Ivors Academy, added. “We are proud to honor her with the special international award at The Ivors, celebrating her incredible music and authentic craft.”

Held annually, the Ivor Novello awards honor and recognize songwriters and composers from across the U.K. and international songwriting community. The prizes are determined by a panel made up of songwriters and composers from the association’s membership.

The academy confirmed on April 29 that Rosalía would collect the international songwriter of the year honor in recognition of her 2025 LP, LUX. The album sees the Catalonian-born artist sing in 13 languages and fuse influences from both classical and pop music.

Nominations for the awards were announced in March, with Olivia Dean, Lily Allen, Kae Tempest and Wolf Alice among the acts leading with the most nods.

Three of Perry’s five Grammy nominations to date have been in songwriting categories. She has been nominated twice for song of the year, for writing Aguilera’s “Beautiful” and cowriting the Alicia Keys-Brandi Carlile collab “A Beautiful Noise,” and once for best song written for visual media for cowriting Dolly Parton’s “Girl in the Movies.”
