Lily Wolter of Penelope Isles announces debut album ‘A Moment In My Eyes’ as My Precious Bunny with single ‘KookieCannibal’

Lily Wolter of Penelope Isles has announced her new project My Precious Bunny and shared the new single ‘KookieCannibal’ – listen below.

The Isle of Man-born, Brighton-based musician is one half of Penelope Isles alongside her brother Jack, and now has announced that the first album under her solo moniker will be titled ‘A Moment In My Eyes’ and it will be released on May 22 via Bella Union. Pre-order your copy here.

She has already released the lead single ‘I Go Up, You Go Down’, and now she has followed it up with the twinkling and heartfelt indie pop bop ‘KookieCannibal’.

Check out the video, directed by Wolter herself, here:

Speaking about the track, Wolter has said: “Prior to recording the album with Allister Kellaway (Last Living Cannibal), we met up one rainy afternoon in 2022 for a jam at my studio in Portslade. We messed around with the Roland String synth and some Logic drum samples, with no idea we were starting something that would eventually become an album we’d make together a few years later.”

“I re-wrote the lyrics when we were making the album together in 2024, as a reflection on when we used to play gigs together in the Isle of Man as kids and the beautiful optimism we all carried. The chorus features my brother, Jack Wolter (Penelope Isles/Cubzoa), as we sing, ‘like back in the day, will we make it rain?’ The verse is me talking to Alli, ‘did you play the song?’ After I first sent the demo back with vocals, then wanting him to do something ‘fuzzy and long’ at the end – which he did, so perfectly!”

My Precious Bunny – ‘A Moment In My Eyes’ tracklist:

  1. ‘Times That Passed’
  2. ‘Blackcurrants’
  3. ‘Tryin’ But I’m Dyin’
  4. ‘Wack’
  5. ‘The Joys Of Adulthood’
  6. ‘Young Pup’
  7. ‘KookieCannibal’
  8. ‘Longacre’
  9. ‘Punchin’
  10. ‘I Go Up, You Go Down’
  11. ‘A Moment In My Eyes’

“Originally named ‘KookieLou’, I began this project when I was 16 at college in the Isle of Man, doing a B-tech in Art & Design,” Wolter has said. “It was the beginning of me making stuff – sculptures, prints, drawings, and eventually demos. Since forming Penelope Isles, this side project has been on the back burner. I always had plans to do something with it someday, but never found the time because I was putting everything into Penelope Isles.”

“It wasn’t until lockdown struck, and I became blessed with 4 months of living at my parents’ house in Penzance, Cornwall, with nothing to do except make demos and go surfing (I was one of the lucky ones). This is where I wrote most of these songs. Freshly out of a breakup, I was thrown into a heavy weight of reflection, jealousy, heartache, memories, confusion, insecurity and low self-worth, that was being tended to by making demos in my bedroom. I proudly listened to them on repeat, wondering what to do with it all. It was extremely cathartic, and I’m so grateful for that little chapter.”

Penelope Isles formed in 2017 in Brighton and have released two studio albums to date: 2019’s ‘Until The Tide Creeps In’ and 2021’s ‘Which Way To Happy’.
