During a recent tweet storm, the musician joked about the group’s forthcoming reunion tour, noting that SpongeBob can’t join either because “he’s back on the drugs,” presumably sold to him by Kermit
The countdown to Oasis‘ long-awaited reunion tour is on. Noel and Liam Gallagher aren’t necessarily in the business of great customer service, but even they know their fans are expecting an unforgettable night. They’re keeping details about the show close to their chest, but during a recent posting storm on X (formerly Twitter), Liam dropped some teasers about who might be performing with them — including Peppa Pig on drums.
“Here we have it Peppa pig on drums Bert n Ernie on lead guitar n bass,” he wrote. It’s been a while since we’ve checked in with Peppa Pig. During her last viral moment, she hung up the phone on her friend out of jealousy over not knowing how to whistle. Good to know she’s mastered a different form of noise-making since then. Beside Peppa and the Sesame Street duo, Liam also recruited the finger puppet from the old U.K. series Fingerbobs to play keys. “Hope that clears everything up can’t wait to see you all who’s says RnR is dead.”
Naturally, Oasis fans had some questions about the talent pool. Why not have Animal from the Muppets universe on drums? “Only 1 animal in this band and it’s RKID he’s a TIGER,” Liam replied, shouting out his brother. And what about Miss Piggy? Well, she’s the one managing the tour. It wasn’t easy making the band. Kermit the Frog, for example, didn’t make the cut. “Drug dealer,” the musician said by way of explanation. Spongebob is also out because “he’s back on the drugs,” presumably sold to him by Kermit.
The content storm follows urging from some Oasis fans for Noel and Liam to do a better job at promoting the upcoming tour — which notably caused a frenzy when tickets dropped last year. In February, some fans were left feeling “pretty battered” after having their orders cancelled as Ticketmaster cracks down on tickets they believe were purchased via bots. Ticketmaster has recommended that “anyone who has been contacted and believes a refund was made in error has been sent a form to fill in for the tour’s promoters to review.”
Still, Liam doesn’t see the point in promoting the run despite the fans saying that “normally bands hype these shows.” Responding to one who suggested as much, he wrote: “Yeah well we’re not normal we’re OASIS and we fucking RULE.”
