Last night (December 17), Gallagher took to Twitter to answer several fan questions. One question saw a fan ask the Oasis singer about his favourite Christmas song. Gallagher answered in succinct fashion: “‘Last Christmas’ Wham“.

Several followers replied to agree with Gallagher’s choice, though one fan was quick to voice their surprise that Gallagher didn’t go with John Lennon‘s ‘War Is Over’. In fact, Liam was such a big fan of ‘War Is Over’ that he once nearly came to blows with elder brother Noel when discussing the best Christmas song of all time.

Noel revealed in 2022 that the brothers got physical years back while at a bar: “It actually turned violent in the end as he was saying the John Lennon tune ‘War Is Over’ was the best Christmas tune of all time and I was going, ‘It’s Slade ‘Merry Christmas Everybody’.’ This argument got so heated, people had to come in [and say] ‘Wait what you doing? You gonna start a fight over a Christmas tune?’”

Things will seemingly be smoother for the brothers this Christmas season as they revealed their highly-awaited return to the stage as Oasis earlier this year, announcing a string of huge stadium gigs in the UK and Ireland to take place next summer. That was then followed by the announcement of dates in North America, South America, Australia, South Korea and Japan.

Following the revelation that they’d be returning, Oasis ruled out a headline performance at Glastonbury 2025 and said they won’t be appearing at any other festivals next summer. Liam and Noel have also shot down rumours of a return to Knebworth in 2026 too.

The band have announced that Cage The Elephant will be serving as opening support on their North American leg while former Verve frontman and soloist Richard Ashcroft and Cast will be joining the Mancunian icons on their UK and Ireland dates.

In other news, Liam recently went back on his claims that the band are currently recording a new album, telling fans “it was a laugh”.
