The Britpop legends kicked off the Australian leg of their Live ’25 comeback tour on Friday (October 31) with the first of three shows in Melbourne, ahead of two gigs in Sydney next week. The first show saw a crowd of more than 50,000 descend on Marvel Stadium, where, as Oasis’ set drew to a close, flares were launched into the air.

The incident occurred during ‘Champagne Supernova’, the final song of the night, when two red flares were seen flying into the floor section of the sold-out stadium, with no injuries reported.

One fan in attendance told an Australian news outlet that Liam had initially responded to the flare by saying “naughty naughty naughty”, with a more expletive-laden response following on social media later.

Not one to mince his words, he took to X/Twitter to address the “massive c***” who launched the flare into the crowd, writing “you are 1 seriously fucked up individual and you will get yours trust me”.

Victoria Police said there were no arrests at the stadium last night, and the flare had not been reported to them. As noted by Billboard, security had reportedly conducted thorough bag checks at the gate, and it remains unclear how the flares entered the venue or whether any injuries occurred.

Marvel Stadium has yet to comment.

Following their Australia trek, they’ll set out on a run of South American dates next month, with Richard Ashcroft supporting once again.

The band recently played gigs in South Korea and Japan with Mike More acting as a temporary replacement guitarist for Bonehead. He’s previously played in Liam’s solo band. Bonehead had announced that he would be taking a planned break from the tour to continue with treatment for prostate cancer. He plans to rejoin the group onstage in South America.

Last month, Liam teased more UK dates to come at Oasis final Wembley concert, telling the crowd: “‘Champagne Supernova’, see you next year.” He later took to X/Twitter to further hint at additional shows, writing: “It’s not even half time yet.”

A British peer has since appeared to accidentally reveal that Oasis will return to Knebworth next summer. There has also been speculation that the Gallaghers could play more shows at Wembley and host a homecoming residency at Manchester’s Etihad Stadium.

In other news, Oasis are celebrating 30 years of their classic single ‘Wonderwall’ with a limited Edition ‘(What’s The Story) Morning Glory?’ 7” singles box set.
