Liam Gallagher casts doubt over manager’s claims about Oasis’ future: “He’s the accountant”

Liam Gallagher has cast doubt over claims from the band’s manager that Oasis have no intentions of sharing any new material.

This comes after manager Alec McKinlay told Music Week about what it was like to work with both Liam and Noel Gallagher as the world gears up for Oasis’ comeback and 2025 reunion tour.

He made headlines when he dismissed any hopes of new material from the Britpop icons and said they had no intention of announcing any more tour dates either. “This is very much the last time around, as Noel’s made clear in the press,” he said. “It’s a chance for fans who haven’t seen the band to see them, or at least for some of them to. And no, there’s no plan for any new music.”

Now, Liam has taken to X/Twitter to contradict McKinlay’s comments and reaffirm that only he and his brother call the shots when it comes to Oasis updates.

Responding to one fan who said it didn’t feel “very biblical” for McKinlay to dismiss all future plans, the singer responded: “Neither do I and the only people that will be making any kind of decisions on the future of OASIS will be ME n RKID so let’s just take it one day at a time.”

‘Rkid’ is the nickname Liam Gallagher uses for his brother and bandmate, Noel.

Later, the frontman doubled down on his stance, telling another fan who thought “there must be a degree of truth” to the manager’s comments that McKinley is “the accountant” for the band.

Then, when pressed further by another fan to directly say if the manager was lying, Gallagher caused further confusion when he made the tongue-in-cheek response: “Am I?”

Last year, the band shot down reports that they were planning to headline Knebworth in 2026 and hopes for a new Oasis album started when Liam Gallagher went online and told fans that a new LP from the group was “already finished”. He raised fans’ hopes again, claiming that he was “blown away” by the new material written by Noel.

He then went back on this and posted an update on X saying that there was “no Oasis album in the making” and his prior comments were merely something he did for “a laugh”.

While Liam is frequently light-hearted on X, he has previously dropped clues about Oasis news on the platform before it got publicly announced. One prominent example took place last spring, when he teased the band’s reunion and 2025 tour dates well before both were confirmed. This was largely dismissed by followers as a joke at the time.

While it is still unknown whether Oasis have any plans to share new material or extra tour dates, fellow musician and friend of the band Kelly Jones recently revealed to NME that Noel Gallagher has been back in the studio lately.

“I’m assuming he’s doing some writing for either his [solo, High Flying Birds] stuff, or if they’re [Oasis] gonna bring out a couple songs, I don’t know,” the Stereophonics frontman said.

The Britpop legends have 41 dates booked for 2025, kicking off at stadiums around the UK and Ireland before moving across multiple continents. Support will come from Cast, Richard Ashcroft, Cage The Elephant and Ball Park Music.

News of the comeback led to the biggest concert launch on record for the UK and Ireland, with 10million fans in 158 countries queuing to get tickets. The dates commence in Cardiff on July 4 and will be their first time on stage together since 2009.

In March, sources close to the band exclusively told NME that the band’s line-up on the tour will include Noel, Liam, bassist Andy Bell, guitarists Gem Archer and Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs and drummer Joey Waronker.
