Liam Gallagher Barred From Tossing Maracas at Oasis Concerts After Crowd Injuries

“I’ve just been told don’t do any of that shit anymore because you don’t know how to behave yourselves,” singer said of fan skirmishes over his discarded instruments

Liam Gallagher has been barred from his traditional maracas tossing at Oasis’ reunion concerts after crowd skirmishes in pursuit of the instruments resulted in injuries.

At the band’s Edinburgh show last week, Gallagher informed the audience they would not be the recipients of his tambourine or maracas because they “don’t know how to behave themselves.”

‘I can’t throw my tambourine out tonight or my maracas I’ve been told not to. I’m not being tight or anything like that, do you know what I mean,” Gallagher told the crowd.

The Metro UK reported that at Oasis’ concert at London’s Wembley Stadium, a 42-year-old woman managed to catch the maracas, but she was soon mobbed by two men who wrestled away the instrument from her. The woman then sent photos of her injuries — cuts and bruises — from the “horrible” experience to the British tabloids, which likely resulted in Gallagher’s maracas ban.

“I’ve just been told don’t do any of that shit anymore because you don’t know how to behave yourselves,” Gallagher told the Edinburgh crowd. “You keep pinching each other on your nipples and ears and fucking shit like that and kneeing each other in the bollocks. I’ve been told now.”

It’s not just catching a stage-used item from Oasis’ unlikely reunion tour that has audience members crazed: Maracas and tambourines from Oasis’ previous U.K. shows have reportedly commanded big money on online marketplaces.

Oasis’ trek resumes Saturday with the first of two shows in Dublin, Ireland. The reunion tour will then hop the Atlantic, with the North American leg beginning August 24 and 25 in Toronto.
