Leigh-Anne samples Masters At Work for “soundtrack to my comeback” ‘Been A Minute’

Leigh-Anne has shared a new “comeback” single that samples Masters At Work. Check it out below.

Titled ‘Been A Minute’, the track marks the first new music from the singer, songwriter and former Little Mix star since her 2024 solo EP ‘No Hard Feelings’.

It comes as a standalone track, and was co-written by Leigh-Anne, with production coming from Elijah “GYW Eli” Ross (Coco Jones, Lucky Daye, Tinashe) and Lasse Qvist. It also incorporates a sample from the classic song ‘Work’ by Masters At Work, and blends the iconic vocal hook with Leigh-Anne’s slick vocals and dancehall rhythms.

Take the lead, I’ll follow/ If you ready let me know/ Done told you once before, not tryna play no games,” she sings. “Come have it your way, I’ll do what you say/ eyes on us when you pull me closer.

The song arrives alongside a music video directed by Femi Lade (Jorja Smith, Stormzy), which captures the unmistakable carnival spirit and embodies a sultry, celebratory fever dream.

“There’s something powerful about sampling a song that shaped me growing up,” Leigh-Anne said. “I used to play it with friends when I was younger, and now I’ve reimagined it as the soundtrack to my comeback. ‘Been a Minute’ is fun, nostalgic, and the first taste of this new era.”

Check out the new music video below.

The new “comeback” track from Leigh-Anne comes as she has a handful of festival appearances lined-up for the remainder of this summer. These include a slot at Boardmasters on August 8, and performances at Reading & Leeds 2025 planned for August 22 (Leeds) and 24 (Reading).

Other performances planned include a headline appearance at Manchester Pride on August 23 and a headline show at Mighty Hoopla Malta on September 27. Visit here for tickets and more information.

Leigh-Anne debuted her solo career in 2023 with the single ‘Don’t Say Love’ – a garage and house-inspired track produced by Jon Bellion and Pete Nappi. That was then followed up with the Ayra Starr-assisted ‘My Love’.

She also hinted about a possible debut solo album that year and opened up about the rocky transition to becoming a solo artist.

“It’s incredible what Little Mix have done and what we’ve achieved. We’ve absolutely killed it,” she said. “But now I am on my own, and not all of the Little Mix fans are going to come along with me. I have to build a new fan base. Yeah, so I do feel like a new artist to some extent…”
