Ava Max has once again seen her music leaked online before the official release date – this time, it’s the title track from her upcoming album ‘Don’t Click Play’.
A snippet of the track was leaked yesterday (August 19) and already fans have noticed one line in the song, which sees the American singer-songwriter address long running comparisons between her and Lady Gaga.
In the song, Ava is heard singing “She samples, singing Gaga imitations/ Can’t kings and queens look good with poker faces?”. The line not only makes reference to her own hit song ‘Kings And Queens’, but also the breakthrough Lady Gaga hit ‘Poker Face’.
She continues in the song, brushing off the criticism: “But I’m loving myself even if you hate it.”
According to a report from Rolling Stone, a source close to Ava Max has confirmed that the leaked snippet is real and is taken from the title track to her new album ‘Don’t Click Play’.

Before then, the same source told the outlet that the third record from the singer is still set to be shared on Friday (August 22), despite her absence from social media in recent weeks.
This isn’t the first time that the singer has had to deal with her music being leaked. Previous issues have arisen with her past two albums too – her debut studio album ‘Heaven & Hell’, and her follow-up LP ‘Diamonds And Dancefloors’. Both had their release date pushed back because of the leaks.
Speaking in January about the issue, Ava Max asked fans to stop sharing the leaks online, saying (via RS): “I have a lot of demos I’ve written that are not finalized records, and I’d appreciate it if you stop leaking these records like this one.”
The lyrics in ‘Don’t Click Play’ also don’t mark the first time she had addressed the long-running comparisons to Lady Gaga either.
Her music and image have long been described by some online as resembling that of the ‘Abracadabra’ singer, and speaking out about the topic in 2023, Max told Nylon: “No matter how many haters there are out there, or people who want to bring you down — or people who think I’m a Lady Gaga comparison, which is huuuh-larious.”
“Who doesn’t love Gaga?! I can’t help that I look like this,” she added. “I was born the way I was born too! I can’t help that I’m five-foot-two as well. Like what do they want me to do, dye my hair black? I did that, and then they started comparing me to Dua [Lipa]! You can’t win.”
The leaked snippet of the title track from Ava Max’s new album follows on from a handful of officially shared singles that arrived earlier this year. Lead single ‘Lost Your Faith’ arrived in February, ‘Lovin Myself’ came out in May and ‘Wet, Hot American Dream’ arrived last month.
Few details about the new album have been confirmed, however, Rolling Stone shares that there will be 12 songs in total, including tracks called ‘How Can I Dance’, ‘Take My Call’, ‘Skin in the Game’, and ‘World’s Smallest Violin’.
The leak also comes just weeks after Ava Max cancelled her upcoming North American, UK and European tour dates, which were set to celebrate the album release.
The tour was due to commence in Los Angeles on September 3, and would see her run through North America before 15 dates across the UK and Europe in October and November.
The singer revealed the tour is being pulled as it’s not up to her standards, saying: “Pushing back my tour is [the] most difficult decision I’ve had to make, but when I perform for you, it has to be of a standard that I’m happy with, and it’s just not there yet.”
