Lava La Rue to headline London’s Denmark Street Sessions this weekend

Lava La Rue is set to headline Denmark Street Sessions this weekend, a one-day cultural celebration in Camden in London.

On Saturday (September 6), a series of live performances, exhibitions, pop ups and talks will descend upon the historical thoroughfare in central London, running from 2pm until late.

At 11:30pm, a headline performance from West London musician La Rue will take place at the Thirteen venue, rounding out a day that will also include appearances from former Kasabian and Beady Eye member Jay Mehler, pianist Jim Brickman and Black Sabbath touring guitarist Marc Hayward.

Talks will also be held on subjects such as London nightlife and the role of design in music, while Yungblud’s newly opened venue Beautifully Romanticised Accidentally Traumatised will also play host to events.

All events at the inaugural Denmark Street Sessions will be free to attend.

Often referred to as ‘Tin Pan Alley’, Denmark Street has been home to recording studios, music shops and publishing houses for several decades and has been the site of pivotal recordings by David Bowie, The Rolling Stones and the Sex Pistols, among countless others.

La Rue was an NME Cover star last year, for which they compiled an exclusive playlist titled ‘Glitchy Space Grunge From Round The Planet’. It included tracks Feeble Little Horse, Yves Tumor, Death Grips and many more and you can check it out here.

In the interview, La Rue said: “I am an alien who’s just crash-landed in a rural British area, but I’m pretending to be a Boy Scout. Because what I’ve learned about humans is that they have scouts, so I’ll dress up as one of those to blend in. I could just be on an adventure and ask loads of questions and no one will think it’s weird.”

La Rue released their debut album ‘STARFACE’ in July last year via Dirty Hit.
