Tate McRae will perform on March 1, as Shane Gillis returns to SNL as host
Mayhem weekend just got even more chaotic! On Tuesday, Saturday Night Live announced its guests for March 1 and March 8: Tate McRae will perform as Shane Gillis hosts on March 1, and Lady Gaga will take on double-duty on March 8, the day after she releases her seventh studio album.
The announcement comes just days after Gaga joined Saturday Night Live‘s “Homecoming Concert,” and performed “Dick in a Box” with Andy Samberg. On March 8, Gaga will celebrate her second time hosting SNL and her fifth time performing on the sketch show.
Gaga first joined as a musical guest in October 2009 when Ryan Reynolds hosted. She returned in May 2011 before taking on a double-duty shift in November 2013 where she welcomed RuPaul onstage for a duet of “Fashion.” She also performed in 2016 to celebrate Joanne. In 2023, she also made a cameo as she surprised Bad Bunny by introducing him as a musical guest on the show.
Meanwhile, the March 1 episode will see the return of Gillis after he returned last February with 21 Savage following his 2019 firing for racist and homophobic jokes that Gillis made on a podcast years earlier. The Gillis-hosted episode also serves as McRae’s debut on the show after she released her album So Close to What, which features The Kid Laroi and other stars.
The new episodes come after the star-studded SNL 50th Anniversary Special and Homecoming Concert last weekend. So far this season, SNL has featured guests Charli XCX, Shaboozey, Billie Eilish, Ariana Grande, Stevie Nicks, Timothée Chalamet, and Chappell Roan.
