Lady Gaga Seems to Tease ‘LG7’ With a Mysterious Countdown Clock on Her Website

It’s been about five years since Lady Gaga released her last album Chromatica, and she has been teasing that a new project is on the way for some time now. Over the weekend, fans got a small clue that it might finally be coming: People noticed that the pop star had added a countdown clock that ticks down to Jan. 27, something that instantly got them excited for what Gaga has in store this year.

There are a few hints that this might be related to her long-anticipated LP, which fans have dubbed LG7. A source tells Rolling Stone that she’s planning to reveal details about the project at the end of the countdown, not release the LP.

The background of the countdown clock is made up of blue diamonds, a motif that goes back to her first album. Plus, if you scroll over the date, text that says LG1 pops up, nodding back to her debut and possible the latest follow-up in her career.

Gaga riled up listeners with some major music releases in 2024. She dropped the album’s first single “Disease” in October and explained how it first made its way into the album during an interview with Rolling Stone. She said that the song captured the forthcoming’s LP varied sounds and vibes.

“It felt like a way into the chaos of the album, which is kind of exercises in chaos — different sides of who I am as a person,” Gaga said. “To me, there’s some kind of chaos in all of the ways we try to analyze ourselves. ‘Disease’ is the beginning of that, and it started with this little voice on my shoulder saying ‘there’s no more tears to cry, I heard you begging for life,’ and that uncomfortable feeling that we can sometimes have when the voice in our head is not pleasant.”

Meanwhile “Die With a Smile,” the duet with Bruno Mars that they released this past summer, has continued to climb up the charts. The track hit Number One on the Billboard Hot 100 at the beginning of the month, something Gaga called “an honor.”

“I am so incredibly grateful that my song ‘Die With a Smile’ with Bruno Mars, my friend, is Number One on the Hot 100,” she said on TikTok. “I can’t believe I’ve had two Number Ones in three different decades that I’ve been releasing my music.”

In addition to releasing the album, Gaga will also be headlining both weekends of Coachella this year.

This story was updated 2 p.m. ET to include source reporting about when album details will be shared.
