‘KPop Demon Hunters’ Put the ‘Golden’ in Golden Globes With 3 Nominations

KPop Demon Hunters continues its streak as one of this year’s biggest runaway hits. The popular Netflix film has scored three nominations at the 2026 Golden Globes, including Best Motion Picture, Animated and Cinematic, and Box Office Achievement. The newly announced nods also place the hit single “Golden” in the running for Best Original Song — Motion Picture. Songwriters EJAE and Mark Sonnenblick share the nomination.

“Golden” has spent 23 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100. The pop record peaked at Number One and has held a steady position in the Top 10 for multiple consecutive weeks. EJAE, who performs the song alongside Audrey Nuna and Rei Ami as the singing voices of the fictional act HUNTR/X, is the first Korean-American to be nominated at the Golden Globes.

Other nominees in the Best Original Song — Motion Picture category include “Dream as One” from Avatar: Fire and Ash (Miley Cyrus, Simon Franglen, Mark Ronson, and Andrew Wyatt), “I Lied to You” from Sinners (Ludwig Göransson and Raphael Saadiq), “No Place Like Home” and “The Girl in the Bubble” from Wicked: For Good (Stephen Schwartz), and “Train Dreams” from Train Dreams (Nick Cave and Bryce Dessner).

Last month, “Golden” earned five nominations for the 2026 Grammy Awards, including Song of the Year. “To say this was my dream is an understatement,” EJAE wrote on Instagram at the time. “This wouldn’t be possible without the fans of the movie who have shown us so much support.” It marked a full-circle moment for the songwriter who started as a K-pop trainee.

“I got in when I was 11,” she told Rolling Stone in August. “I feel like I experienced all facets of K-pop. I was a trainee, I became a songwriter, I also vocal directed for K-pop idols. So I really resonated with Rumi. She’s such a perfectionist and trying to hide her shame, hide her flaws. And that’s a huge part of when you’re training. You’re trying to put your best foot forward. ‘Golden’ really means a lot to me, because I feel like at that time, I needed a song like that.”

KPop Demon Hunters arrived in June and became the most popular Netflix film of all time by August. “Nothing’s ever gone this big off of a Netflix property,” a high-ranking K-pop executive told Rolling Stone earlier this year. “It’s pure K-pop. There are no fan wars. There are no label wars. There’s no artist drama. There’s none of the issues that groups face amongst each other.”
