King Gnu’s ‘AIZO’ Hits No. 1 as Winter Olympics Boost back number’s ‘Doshitemo Doshitemo’ on Japan Hot 100

King Gnu’s “AIZO” rises to No. 1 on the Billboard Japan Hot 100, for the chart released Feb. 18.

The opener for TV anime Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 (Culling Game arc, Part 1) was first released digitally on Jan. 9 and debuted at No. 6. The track climbs to the summit in its sixth chart week following its Feb. 11 CD release, selling 68,441 copies. This marks King Gnu’s third No. 1 on the chart, following “Ichizu” and “Chameleon.”

Holding at No. 2 is Kenshi Yonezu’s “IRIS OUT,” which leads streaming, video views and karaoke again this week. The track also continues steady physical sales centered on brick-and-mortar stores, adding 960 copies to push cumulative sales past 310,000.

At No. 3 is Hey! Say! JUMP’s “Hanikami.” The theme song for the drama series 50-pun kan no Koibito launches with 230,578 copies — surpassing the group’s previous single — to hit No. 1 for sales. Mrs. GREEN APPLE’s “lulu.” comes in at No. 4, followed by M!LK’s “Suki Sugite Metsu!” at No. 5, unchanged from last week.

Meanwhile, M!LK’s “Bakuretsu Aishiteru” debuts at No. 6. Released digitally on Feb. 9, the five-man group’s latest single comes in at No. 5 for streaming, No. 9 for downloads and No. 4 for video, marking the boy band’s first release to make its debut in the top 10 of the Japan Hot 100.

Also, following the opening of the Winter Olympics on Feb. 6, back number’s NHK winter sports theme “Doshitemo Doshitemo” jumps 32-7, with streaming up to 132%, downloads to 198%, radio to 390% and video to 243% week over week.

Sakanaction’s “Iranai” debuts at No. 10. The drama theme song comes in at No. 2 for downloads, No. 20 for streaming and No. 9 for radio.

The Billboard Japan Hot 100 combines physical and digital sales, audio streams, radio airplay, video views and karaoke data.
