Kendrick Lamar’s ‘GNX’ Back at Number One After Super Bowl

Damn and Good kid m.A.A.d city also climbed back into the Top 10 after Lamar’s performance became the most-viewed halftime show of all time

Kendrick Lamar‘s GNX has bounced back to Number One on Billboard’s 200 Albums chart, riding a wave of momentum after the rapper’s lauded Super Bowl halftime performance, the publication reports.

The album, which hit Number One late last year after its release in December, sold 236,000 units and amassed 161.01 million streams since Lamar’s performance last Sunday. It climbed three spots since last week, dethroning the Weeknd’s Hurry Up Tomorrow for the top spot.

Lamar’s halftime show, perhaps the most exciting part of a lopsided game between the Eagles and the Chiefs, was the most viewed halftime performance in history, drawing in 133.5 million viewers, according to Roc Nation and Apple Music. The performance also featured SZA, as well as guest appearances from Samuel L. Jackson and Serena Williams.

While GNX took the crown, it wasn’t Lamar’s only album getting a bump from the Super Bowl slot. 2017’s Damn. and 2011’s good kid m.A.A.d city both shot back up to the Top 10 as well, hitting Number Nine and 10, respectively.

Aside from GNX, Lamar’s “Not Like Us” — the incendiary diss track in which Lamar accuses Drake of being a pedophile — is expected to return atop the Hot 100 as well, with the track getting a prominent placement during the Super Bowl show. The song won five Grammys this month, including for Record of the Year and Song of the Year.
