Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau spotted kissing amid dating rumours

Rumours of a romance between Katy Perry and former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau appear to have been confirmed.

While gossip columns have been speculating on the possible relationship throughout the summer, there has been no confirmation from either party about the possibility of a partnership.

On Saturday (October 11), however, the Daily Mail published photographs of the pair embracing and kissing on the upper deck of a yacht which they reported was captured off the coast of Santa Barbara, California in late September.

Perry announced her split from Orlando Bloom in July, having been romantically linked to the Pirates Of The Caribbean actor since 2016. The pair never married but they share a daughter, Daisy Dove, who is five years old.

Trudeau, on the other hand, who resigned as prime minister in March and stood down as an MP at the federal election the following month, announced in 2023 that he and wife Sophie Grégoire had split after 18 years of marriage. “We remain a close family with deep love and respect for each other and for everything we have built and will continue to build,” he said at the time.

Last month, Perry reflected on her “rollercoaster year” and said she was done “forcing” her career. “Whatever comes next, I’m letting it unfold naturally,” she said. “No forcing, no controlling – just trusting the angels, the fans, and the music to guide me where I’m meant to go. Please know this: my love for you is unconditional, and I couldn’t do any of this without you.”

She released her seventh album ‘143’ in September, which NME awarded two stars and described as “a serviceable but slightly dull collection on which Perry struggles to relocate her old sense of fun”.

Controversies surrounding the album included her choice to work with Dr. Luke despite the abuse and assault allegations against him, and the supposed male gaze-centric nature of her single ‘Woman’s World’.

She was also criticised for being part of a controversial space flight mission in April, where she was a member of the first all-female space flight in history.

When Perry headed out on tour, fans were divided again, as she faced multiple occasions where props malfunctioned, experienced a fan fainting on stage, and faced harsh criticism from some online over the choreography involved. Despite this, the tour grossed more than $80million (£59million) in sales.
