Karol G Unveils ‘Tropicoqueta’ Cover and Release Date: ‘It’s Party, It’s Identity’

The Colombian star’s fifth album arrives June 20

Karol G is bringing the party on her new album, Tropicoqueta. The Colombian star kicked off the week by announcing her fifth LP and promised it will be released “very soon.” Today, she shared more details about the album: Tropicoqueta is set to arrive next week on June 20. Along with the release date, the singer has unveiled the album’s cover art on Instagram.

“Traveling the world with my last album, an album that gave me so much, I kept asking myself the same question: ‘What’s the next step?’” the singer wrote in the caption of the image. “It wasn’t a matter of looking further, but of looking within.” Karol promised that the album is a return “back to the roots, to the songs I grew up listening to, to the sounds that made me fall in love with music.” She continued to detail the sonic landscape of the album: “This album sounds like a little bit of everyone,” she said. “This album is soul, it’s passion, memory, it’s nostalgia, it’s joy, it’s party, it’s identity. As a good friend said, ‘It’s a love letter to what we were and a manifestation of what we are now.’ It’s my best way to say: I’m from here AND I FEEL INFINITELY PROUD!!!”

With the cover and details, Karol is highlighting the tropical energy of her roots — a perfect vibe for summer, and the singer knows it. She closed out her lengthy caption with a nod of what’s to come: “Summer starts with us… just like last year.”
