Kanye West Drops Diddy Song With Daughter North After Dispute With Kim Kardashian Over Release

Kanye West dropped a new song via X on Saturday that he said is by Sean “Diddy” Combs, which features West and Kim Kardashian’s daughter North West. Kanye shared “Lonely Roads Still Go to Sunshine” track after a reported dispute about it being released between him and his former wife Kardashian.

The song also features Combs’ son Christian “King” Combs and Chicago singer Jasmine Williams who is a Yeezy artist, according to West’s post. It opens with what appears to be Combs (who is billed as Puff Daddy) speaking: “I just want to thank you so much just taking care of my kids, man,” he says. “Ain’t nobody reached out, ain’t nobody called.”

West then says, “I love you so much, man. It’s like, you raised me. Even when I didn’t know you, know what I’m saying?” North is heard rapping on the track, including the line, “When you see me shining, then you see the light.”

Prior to West releasing the song, he shared since-deleted screenshots of text messages he claimed were between him and Kardashian, who according to the screenshots texted that she sent paperwork to West “so she wouldn’t be in the Diddy song To protect her.” She added, “One person has to trademark!” The gist of the text conversation was over North West’s trademark, which Kardashian trademarked per an apparent discussion and agreement with Kanye when their children were born “so no one else” could trademark their kids’ names. The trademark in dispute would then revert to North West when she turns 18 (she is currently age 11), Kardashian added in the text.  The screenshots were captured and reported by TMZ.

Kanye responded to Kardashian with “Amend it or I’m going to war And neither of us will recover from the public fallout.” He added: “You’re going to have to kill me.”

A rep for Kardashian did not immediately return Rolling Stone‘s request for comment.

West himself is facing several legal cases, which range from sexual assault claims to antisemitism and racial discrimination claims, alongside suits from former Yeezy employees and copyright infringement disputes.
