Kali Uchis presents JENNIE with the Global Force award at Billboard’s Women In Music 2025.
Kali Uchis:
I’m so honored to be here with you all to present this year’s Global Force Award, which recognizes an artist whose influence has been felt across the entire world this year. The world first met beloved K-pop idol JENNIE in 2016 as one quarter of the South Korean sensation BLACKPINK. The group has had multiple entries on the Billboard Global 200, including “Pink Venom” and “Shut Down,” which went all the way to No. 1. And in 2023, BLACKPINK made history as the first K-pop group to headline Coachella. It’s a big deal—absolutely, as it should be. JENNIE first experimented with stepping out on her own in 2018, and her solo career has since gained four hits on the Billboard Global 200, two Hot 100 hits, and two Pop Airplay hits, including “One of the Girls” with The Weeknd and Lily-Rose Depp, and “Mantra,” the first song from JENNIE’s just-released debut studio album, Ruby. By the way, JENNIE, thank you for inviting me to be on the album. JENNIE has said that Ruby is a good album, and that “Mantra” is about being positive, being expressive, and being true to who you are. We love that. I would say she’s a perfect example of that. Whether she’s sharing her creativity through fashion, on stage, or through her own company, OA, she’s someone that young girls can look up to and be inspired by—to have big dreams about who they want to be in this world. It’s not easy to do all those things, but JENNIE does it.
Keep watching for more!
